Shirley~I,m getting the hang of it Report 30 Oct 2011 15:48

My maternal grt grandad Samuel Ager died in 1910 from injuries caused in the London Docks. He lived in CanningTown (West Ham reg district) and i have his death cert with the coroner as the informant.

Have tried to get the coroners report but told its not been kept so am looking to see if the event was reported in a local paper.

Does anyone know where I could find a newspaper report for the area . I am not aware of names of any local newspaper

Try going to the Woolwich heritage centre, they have quite a collection of newspapers on fiche. They are really friendly and I am sure if you called them they may be able to help you if you can't get there yourself.

Good luck :-)

I believe that during the early 1900's to 1920's West Ham Registry Office also covered Walthamstow.

Thanks for the info Perchino, unfortunately I have no idea which dock he worked at. The cause of death says died of injuries caused when a 9 tonne crane fell on him in the London Docks.

Need to do more digging I think

Another thought-was this event after the Trade Union was formed? If so, the Union may have records
