c1860 Nun in Victoria or NSW

it has just been brought to my attension that a long lost ancestor may have become a nun c1860 in either Victoria or Sydney... can anyone suggest how I would go about checking this out. Thank you.

Try a google search for the name, surprising what turns up. Use initials as well as full names.

Try searching for RC Archbishop Australia - there are a couple of sites with 'contact us' links. It wouldn't harm asking for help there.

Well, I suppose there is the Vatican, but without knowing her Order, its probably like looking for a needle in a haystack :(

Although its probably a mammoth task, have you searched for all Convents founded c 1880?

Does anyone know if Religious order deaths, if registered, were under the civilian names or the names taken at the time of Vows?

You might trawl through them and send messages where possibly appropriate.

Nuns in Holy Orders, especially 'abroad' or so early, is not a question seen on the boards in recent years!!!

hmmm...as you say, a mammoth task :( ok well as soon a sthere is a lull in my research I know what to start next.
