Is there anywhere that lists the burials in the Kirkcudbrightshire area of Scotland as I have come to a brick wall with one part of my family tree for a Robert Allan surgeon I have found him in Crocketford and Dalry but cannot find him after 1851. I am trying to find out how I can find his burial in the Kirkcudbrightshire area of Scotland. He married a Margaret Corrie.

Thank you for your help

Lorna...It may be an idea to list "all" the info.re Robert and Margaret (Rootschat June 2011) on here as it may be possible to link Margarets death (Manchester) and her ? burial Scotland to Roberts'....
Was she already a Widow when she moved to Manchester...?

Dumfries Family History Society have booklets listing Memorial Inscriptions for burial grounds in Kirkcudbrightshire - Google it.

Hi
The person I am looking for is the Robert Allan in the 1851 census. Margaret was a widow living in Maxwell Kirkcudbrightshire with the rest of her family and disappears from the English census in 1881 in Manchester.

I did message the Dumfries history society but it seem's that I had to join before I could get the booklet maybe I misunderstood and will try again.

According to the 1851 Census for Troqueer, Market Square

Margaret Allan age 41 b Kirkbean Pauper wife of Surgeon
John 15 b Kirkpatrick Durham
Elizabeth 13 b Rerrick
Mary 11 b Urr
Agnes 9 b Urr
Robert 6 b Kirkpatrick Durham
Robert Allan, 37, surgeon educated at Glasgow University b. Sarn (?Sorn) Ayrshire
Address: Back Street, Dalry

You are right that Robert is the surgeon in Dalry not living with his family. I know that margaret lived with her family after 1861 and moved to Manchester after her mother died to be with her son Robert and daughter mary. I cannot find what happened to her other children either

I have contacted the University but they have 3 Robert Allan's whom qualifield at that time but none of then born in Sorn (Sarn).

I believe that Margaret was buried back in Scotland with her husband but nobody knows where the grave is.

I thank you so much for your help Lorna
