please could someone tell me what sort of detail is included in ancestry's railway records.

I am interested in William Miller who started work in Kirkby in 1892 and retired in 1938. Worked in the Liverpool and Blackpool areas.

I know there could be several of the same name but wondered if it was worth going to my local library for access to ancestry.

Varies quite a bit

Sometimes you get station and what type of work they do, birth date, service, pay

thanks GB

I know he started with the Lancs & Yorks Railway in 1892 not not sure when that became integrated with London & North Western. I know his last posting was as Station Master, Liverpool Exchange in 1933.

The above info was from his obituary but wondered if there was more detail on the 'inbetween' bits.

I have a copy of a relative's Railway employment record.........

Much more recent than the dates you are researching, but I can tell you that it includes.................

Dates of employment in various grades - with rates of pay, and station(s) at which based

Eyesight test results and medical examinations carried out

worthwhile to make a trip to the library then (free access to ancestry) as I am actually researching a few ancestors who worked for the railways
