I have made contact with a number of people with Brooks' in their tree. It has been very useful.

If you have the time and inclination, you could make a Brook/e/es name search on Search Trees, with perhaps a yob c 1940 +/- , and choose tree owners who have male names listed. Of the dozens of messages you send, you may get a handful of replies.
