Question on birth certificate format

I recently got a b/cert for a cousin and in the Father's name box it just had "Richard" followed by 13. On the extreme right it had "Thirteen, FGSB" These appear to be the initials of the registrar. Can any one explain? Thanks.

It is where the Registrar has made an amendment. A list of amendments made would be recorded elsewhere.

In this case I would suggest that whoever went to register the birth started to give the name of the father but the Registrar realised the parents were not married and as the father wasn't there he couldn't be recorded.

Does that tie in with what you know about the family?
