Perhaps the spelling of the name was different - I have found that in my research.

An extra letter as in Lilian/Lillian, Philip/Phillip or an 'a' instead of an 'e' etc.

Did you check the death records before the birth was registered? Sound silly, I know, but since a death had to be registered immediately but not the birth, the death is sometimes registered before the birth. I have seen it happen.

If you feel happy to do so, let us have her name and we'll have a look. If her birth is registered she can't be a stillbirth so there sould be a record of her death.

i have been unable to find any record of the death of a relative when she was a baby., although I have found the birth certificate. does anyone know what the reasons might be and where to go from here. it would have been c. 1937. thanks
