The image says he works for a Boot Manufacturer so the above posts would be correct. Have a look halfway down this page (which tells you about the closing room:-

thirty operatives. The following are just a few of the jobs which the closers, mainly women, do :-

Have you looked at the image? could it be mistranscribed?

Would you like to give us his details so we can have a look

Then again if you google it, it could be something to do with the shoe industry

I'm just researching my family and came across my great great grandfather's job title in 1911 as being a Closing Room Foreman.

Can anyone tell me what this is??
