l am trying to find the parents of my Great grandfather, James Wantling(1830)due to the fact that l can't find either his birth certificate or marriage cert l am struggling to move on.

As yet l have his death cert died 4/7/1885 wolverhampton daugther Ellen Jones(nee wantling) witness, He was aged 54yrs old

l have 1881 census( with Ellen on), His birthplace is Birmingham,Warwickshire residence 4 Adams St. Occupation Wheelwright

l have 1871 census His bithplace once again Birmingham,Warwickshire residence 16tibbington st Tipton occupaion carpenter.

l have 1851 census which l think could be him James Wankling aged 22 residence155 4 court st./Duke st Birmingham.occupation Wheelwiright.

His parents(as far as l am aware) are not on any of the above census forms.

l can't find 1861 census and 1841 census either.

My grandfather is William Wantling(b1875)

They have suggested that it is an original transcription error from the Register (the image is correct) as one of the other female names with the same reference is Mary Ann Marsh.

As Mel has found the Extracted IGI recording, meaning it has been copied from the PR original, it looks as if the GRO index is correct. It probably IS a James Marsh marrying a Mary Ann Marsh :-(

My grandfather William Wantling born 21/6/1875 Bilston, his birth certificates states his father as being James Wanling and mother Mary ann Wanling formerly Marsh, So l am keeping my fingers well and truly crossed hoping the marriage cert l have sent for is the one l am looking for( l have to admit l am having my doubts), but l feel l don't know where else to look, l am truly at my wits end

Remember l said l had sent for marriage cert,for James Wantling and Mary Ann Marsh,Well Dudley registry office have returned my cheque, due to the fact that it is James Marsh and not James Wantling getting married to Mary Ann Marsh.

Guess what l still need HELP !!!!!

Maybe James and Mary Ann never married or the marriage was much later than the children's births indicate?

Cannot find a marriage for Mary Ann and James using Marsh or Porter from 1851 onwards.

l couldn't find James ever getting married to Marsh or Porter either.

l can't find death for Mary Ann Wantling either but l can find death for Mary Ann Porter aged 67years in 1897 Bromsgrove 6c 258......( .l wonder if she ever married James ?????

l would dearly love to find him on 1861 and 1841 census to tie him up to his parents.

l am begining to wonder if l will ever find my ancesters.
