hi Sussane, this may interest you, there is a painting called Popularity presented to king Edward V11 in 1903 which has 300 music hall stars depicted on it i have an original print which names them all so you can imagine how smallit is,the original is probably in buck house??you could research it on line maybee,if you have any names i could see if they are on my print there are no dates just alive or dead in 1903.
Good luck George

One thing to bear in mind is that there were 100's if not 1000's of Music Hall entertainers.

I have an ancestor who not only perfomed in Music Halls, but wrote comedy plays and he and his wife both acted in them.

I have found very little about them.

I would say that online and in life only a very select few became so popular that there is a lot written about them.

So I do hope you find something on your ancestors, but do no be to disprited if there is not a lot out there.

It may be of interest to you to know that Marie Lloyd, one of the most famous music hall artistes, was born in Hoxton and died in October 1922, 3 days after appearing on stage in Edmonton, North London.

Google "Marie Lloyd" for more information.

The comedian and actor, Roy Hudd is an expert on the Music Halls and especially the artist Max Miller. He has written books on the subject which, again, you can find by googling.
