Hello lorraine..I have been researching Leatherlands in Derbyshire..and they all come from an original spelling of Litherland...........Thomas could have been born in \derbyshire \notts of \leics..........for a start!!
He died at Sheridan Streer St.Mary's Nottingham 05.09.1832..he married Esther Wells at St Mary's Nottingham 18.01.1808 St Mary's Nottingham....usually means SHE at least was Nottingham born...........they had ELEVEN children!!

I'll look in my Notts marriages to see if i can find one close to 1787...

EDIT 13.42 ..Can confirm the marriage of Thomas to Esther........and there IS a possible parentage for Thomas:-..I say possible !!! you know me .lol.

THOMAS LEATHERLAND married MARY GILBERT at Nottingham \St. Mary 11.04.1784.........confirmed....

Derek.
