while trawling baptism registers for my grandmother's brother, I came across a child baptised "Ocean". I thought that this was a name more in keeping with the early 21st century rather than the early 20th !!!! has anyone else heard of this name? not even sure if the child was male or female.
Ocean was born to Frances and baptised july 9 1916 at St george Church Gravesend.

Hi Linda
obviously not as obscure as I thought!
it just looked out of place amongst all the "floral" names and those more traditional names that I at least associated with those times.

Just do a search for firstname "Ocean" on FreeBMD and there are about 60 firstnames starting with Ocean spread evenly from 1837 to 1951.
