Alexander Report 18 Dec 2011 15:09

About 1900 my paternal family emigrated to mexico to start a papermill for the mexican government (fabrica del papel in El Progresso)
The reid family Alexander and Lillias with sons alexander, joseph,Andrew and fred and dfaughters florence and jean all lived in Mexico city
when my father died in 1954 I lost touch with any family that were still there.
Can anybody help me to find these long lost relatives before it is too late....I am 81 this year :-)

Do you know if this is the marriage?
Marriages Jun 1899
xxx Brooke Lilian Fylde 8e 1251
Green Elizabeth Fylde 8e 1251
xxx Reid Alexander Charles Fylde 8e 1251
Simpson William John Fylde 8e 1251

Or are they Scottish?

Have you looked to see if anyone else has any of the family in their trees on here?

Take a look on familysearch.org in their collection of Mexican records. There are a lot of Reids, hopefully some of them may be your family :)

WOW!!!!
I am totally gobsmacked!!!..how did you do that? I have been trying for 5 years and you arrive in 5 hours.
Yes this is my paternal family, altho' some dates are a bit iffy, Carlysle Terrace was the family home, vacated when the family emigrated en masse to Mexico,
"Lilydale" on the North Deeside Road was the very large residence of the Deeside Registrar, my great uncle Alexander Clark, and was used as a base by the family when they visited the UK.
My Father was Alexander Reid (1898) and I still have the Steamer ticket he used...the sailing date was Dec 5 1931 by North German LLoyd on the Rio Pannco?..bad handwriting...The trip was to exhibit the new grandson (Me) to the relatives.
My Mother Minnie Smith Clark sai;led alone from Ipswich to Tampico on the SS San Valerio arriving in Tampico in May 1930 to marry my father.
I was born on the fifth of march 1931 in the Cowdray Sanitarium in Mexico City
I have no idea what happened to my uncles Andrew,Fred,Joseph and aunties Jean and Florence, I did have an address for Jean married name Ortuno? living on the Calle Lerma in Mexico City
Many thanks for your help
I would love to hear more!!!

, a geologist with Aguilla Oil (Eagle), and I can pretty well confirm that his visits to the UK were to court my Mother on th dates of his visits, she later sailed on the SS Valerio in 1930 from Ipswitch :-D

In a pm Alexander put
'The family are Scots from Peterculter'
which would have helped at the start.

Alexander,
Can you get rid of the blank message space?
