British Subject ==by parentage....

The person although born outside British waters didnt take the nationality of that country,ie dual birth rights.

Is this from the 1911 census? The earlier census returns only asked for place of birth (so that one would then often see "British subject, foreign parts" written beside the place of birth, or "naturalised British subject").

The instructions for the 1911 census has a nationality column, which gives three options, the first being "British subject by parentage".
