The copy of the FreeBMD Database on Ancestry is not generally as current as that on the FreeBMD site. There have been times when the Ancestry copy is several months out of date.

FreeBMD is updated every 4 weeks (give or take a few days depending on how long the update takes to run) with a new database version.

There has also been some re-transcriptions of some of the older files on the system that were originally done from poor quality scans in order to reduce the level of Unrecognised Characters
New entries and newly re-transcribed entries are marked with a Red + indicator.

Births thru 1939 (there are still 14 incomplete quarters of B's in the 1940s), Marrs thru 1951 & Deaths thru 1950 are essentially complete with a handful of exceptions:

Births Dec 1918 (98%) *
Births Dec 1939 (26%) **************
--------------------------------------------
Marriages Dec 1920 (31%) *******************
--------------------------------------------
Deaths Dec 1844 (99%) *
Deaths Jun 1863 (90%) ***
Deaths Sep 1879 (99%) *
Deaths Dec 1879 (99%) *
Deaths Sep 1946 (99%) *

About 50% of quarters from 1950s are essentially complete, and 0% from 1960 on.

Since Ancestry uses FreeBMD's transcriptions thru 1915, it's worth noting the essential completion of D1883q4 in this last update.
