Try searching (country) time line.

This was one result for 'British', but there are lots more.

You could also think about searching for Industrial Revolution, Social Changes, Education etc.

So I've been doing family research for the past few years and mostly it's been quite successful, but I'd like to find out more about the things they would have experienced during their life.

Does anyone know of a website that gives an outlines of events that occurred during certain periods in certain locations or countries in general?
