Wedding gift of family tree

My brother is getting married. I've been doing our family tree for years and would like to get him and his new wife a nice framed family tree chart, which he has asked for. The issue is my sil has two children from a previous marriage, and the kids./sil don't get on with the ex. I want to include the step kids but not sure how to get around the ex husband issue, I think it would look a bit weird in the chart including the ex, especially as I'm planning to frame the chart for display etc.

Any thoughts?

Posted this on another forum and got shot down for thinking of 'the worst wedding gift ever'! :-P

Why not have your brother and new Sister-in-law as the 'root'? Its their present, not the children's. As long as you are showing your sister-in-laws family, her children can relate to their maternal grandparents.

If necessary, in the future, you could have one made with the children's parents as the Root, thus exploring their paternal line.

PS - as presumably your sister-in-law already has a furnished house, its a bit difficult to find something special as a gift. If they haven't specified anything, a framed Tree would certainly qualify!

Why don't you ask your brother and his new wife what they want shown ?
