George may be much harder..............his nickname suggests a Scottish birth, which can be found ONLY on Scotlands People website, which is NOT subscription..........you'd have to purchase credits.

However............do you know when and where he died?

Katy

You didn't give location - which was aksed for - BUT.............is this Pauline?

Births Mar 1928 (>99%)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Grantham Pauline E Fishlock Brentford 3a 265

To find the marriage of her parents, look at the following site...........

http://www.freebmd.org.uk/

Then put the site in your favourites.......you can't really do English/Welsh research without it

You will also be able to find the births of Pauline's siblings on there

EDIT

Here is the marriage - if you'd searched for Percival, you wouldn't have found it

FISHLOCK Rose E GRANTHAM Brentford 3a 612
Grantham Percy F Fishlock Brentford 3a 612

First of all thank you everyone for your comments, i have looked at the post created by a member but still am not sure what to do.

I have asked my family for all they know and they can't give me much apart from names and vague dates of birth. as for marrige dates they don't know a lot at all.

Right now i am mainly looking at my mum's side of the family. I know my mother's grandparents on her mother's sides names are Percival Grantham and Rose Fishlock (her maiden name) but nobody knows their dates of birth or marrige dates. There is only one tree match for Percival and i have emailed the member with a few questions but have so far heard nothing back. I also know they had my grandmother Pauline Grantham she was roughly born around 1929. She married a man named Donald Hortop and i dont know anything about him. They had three girls, Linda, 1948, sandra, 1949 and Lorraine, 1951. She then divorced Donald. she met my grandfather (George Scott, He was also known as Jock) They never married but she took his name. In July 1959 they had my mother Georgina Scott. Pauline died the year before my younger sister was born, 1993.

As for my mother's father's side i have very little to go on, all i have is my grandfather's name George Scott (also known as Jock) he was born in 1929, i know he has three brothers but am not sure if their names are correct (James Scott, Frank Scott and Neil Scott (i do not know birth dates for these three), thats as far as it goes on that side.
I would love to know more about my grandfather and his side of the family as he was my best friend growing up.

If anyone can help me with any of this i would be very grateful.

Thanks Again.

Katy - welcome to the boards.

There are a lot of places for doing searches - some free, some not - but first, I recommend that you read the top post on the "Find Ancestors" board. It has been written by a very helpful member and been stickied by Genes, so that it doesn't have to be nudged all the time.

To be honest, this site is not the best for doing searches................its true value lies in its members, who help each other.

If your great-grandparents were born in England or Wales, look for info about them on freebmd.............definitely the best place to start.

http://www.freebmd.org.uk/

BUT........as stated above.......give us some names, dates and locations, and we'll try to give you a kick-start

If you want to give the names of your great grandparents and approximately when they married and whereabouts they lived or came from then someone on the boards will be happy to try and find them in the records for you.
