Hi there, I have been researching my mums family and have found that her Grandad, John Charles Matthews was a Hotelier/Brewer in 1917, living at The Railway Hotel in Petersfield, he died in 1917. I have been trying to find his obituary and more info about him.

Can anyone please help steer me in the correct direction?

Many thanks

Helen

The archives of the local paper would be an obvious place to start.
Announcement of the funeral, attendance at the funeral, thanks for flowers etc, in the weeks after the death.
