Hi there, I have been researching my mums family and have found that her Grandad, John Charles Matthews was a Hotelier/Brewer in 1917, living at The Railway Hotel in Petersfield, he died in 1917. I have been trying to find his obituary and more info about him.

Can anyone please help steer me in the correct direction?

Many thanks

Helen

Have you looked to see if there is a local history or family history group for the area?

They might know of an obit especially someone in the community like a brewer.J

You could get in touch with the library local to Petersfield and give them the date of death. They may be willing to look up back copies of the local newspapers of the time for an obituary or death notice if you live too far away to visit in person.

This is the address and phone number but I can't find an email address for them:-

Petersfield Library
