Hi folks.
I have finally managed to find the Shentons on Genes Reunited. They were transcibed as 'Thenton' which was the reason why they did not appear.

I will persevere and maybe find Eleanor and Mabel's whereabouts in 1911.

Now I want to find out where Eleanor and Mabel disappeared to for the 1911 census.
Randle appears to live with 2 female boarders and Joseph is married with children. Eleanor died in 1916 and Mabel married in 1920 and died in 1932.

Unfortunately, Jan's post didn't give the page # (it's 3, so the census ref is rg13/3466/6/3)
Go to http://www.findmypast.co.uk/home.jsp and do a search by name of the 1901 census.
In the bottom left of the search box, one can do a search by census ref.
Entering the census ref (rg13/3466/6/3) gets all the names (as transcribed by FMP) on that page including:

Piece Folio Page Registration District
RG13/3466 6 3 SHENTON, Randle West Derby
RG13/3466 6 3 SHENTON, Eleanor West Derby
RG13/3466 6 3 SHENTON, Joseph West Derby

Now since the Shentons don't work, try Lettie and GR gives:

Surname Forename Born in Place of birth Location in 1901
Gaffikin Letitia A 1873 Ireland Kirkdale

So her image is just as good.

Not that it matters here, but if we needed Lettie's age to help distinguish amongst the dozens with the same name, we can do a census ref search on Ancestry - it has to be an old style search.

To get an old style search on Ancestry, go to http://www.ancestry.co.uk/
In the main menu bar, select -search - search all records.
The old/new switch appears at top right, just under the main menu bar.
Then go to - search - census, and pick ENG 1901
Check exact matches only, show advanced search options, and enter the census ref.

NB All these hits (Ancestry, GR, FMP) given above were the free searches.
To get more details or an image, one generally needs a sub.

Absolutely nothing on the 1901 census for any of the family. Interesting spelling of Eleanor!

I agree. How annoying! It seems strange as the 2 sites are owned by the same company.
I would consider changing your sub when due for renewal!

I am putting in the bare details with no date of birth or place and the record is not appearing on here. I have contacted the site. The person in question is Mabel Shenton born 1891 (Aug) who does not appear on the 1901 census here but does appear on FMP. It's just frustrating!

Heather, you will find most members on here - certainly the 'helpers' - have basic membership only and subscribe to FMP or Ancestry.
Have you tried looking with less detail on your search? Missing out birthplace for example. Sometimes less is more!

I am coming across a problem where census records can be located using fmp but not on Genes Reunited where I have my subscription.
I have contacted the site but no reply as yet (it is the weekend!)
Has anyone else noticed this problem and if so, what can be done about it?
