George Wood 1890 - 1935

Hi, it's Sheila using husband's computer,

Help, I've lost the birth of my grandfather's brother, George. On another site someone has posted his date of birth as 17th April 1890, born in Northallerton, Yorkshire. However, I can't find it anywhere. In the 1891 census his mother, Margaret Jefferson Wood (nee White) and her two young children were staying with her parents, Thomas White and Mary Anne (Annie) in Westhaughton, Lancashire. This census covers two pages. We can't find his father, Charles Wood 1860 - 1839, Whashton, Yorkshire, on the 1891 census either. Did Margaret live with her parents to look after her mother as she died shortley after or was Charles in prison, looking for work, etc? Margaret and Charles were back together after this and had more children.
It seems to be a waring family as my grandfather, Charles Jackson Wood and his brother George, had a serious faling out and didn't speak afterwards, as did my father with his brother, which is why I started off the tree knowing nothing. Just to complicate things - George Wood married Dora Gladys Pearson and a few years later Charles Jackson Wood married Dora's sister, Leah Edwina Pearson. When the Woods didn't speak the Pearson sisters also lost contact so that was both families separated.
A relative in Canada (who I only found last year) wonders if George could have been born while his mother was staying with her parents as he was 1 year old at the time. Unfortunately they moved a lot round Durham and North Yorkshire so that's not helpful either.
Any ideas would be welcome. Before anyone says contact the person who gave the date, I feel a bit awkward and intrusive, and also a bit disloyal to my (deseased) father.
Thanks,
Sheila
