Hi,

I have found a 1901 census record for a Margaret Rouse born 1888 in Wandsworth.

In 1901 census it states her as an 'inmate' at 15 Clapton Square Girls Training Home in Hackney, age 13.

Have tried googling girls training homes, but can't find any information as to what this training home was for.

Any thoughts / information regarding this would be appreciated.

Were her parents William (a bricklayer) & Annie Marie? There is a Margaret Rouse age 2 with them in 1891 census.
Margaret is back home with them in 1911.

Rosie, yes here parents were William and Annie Marie.

Another quick question. William and Annie Marie had 14 children, 3 of which died, what is the easiest way of finding the those children. I have found the 11 surviving children.

So to confirm that would have made Sarah Ann and Annie Marie 1st feb 1885 twins??

with only Sarah Ann surviving.

I believe that Frank Rouse and Agnes Rouse are the other deceased children.

Once again, thanks for the information. As a newbie! can I ask how you obtained the information? I found the children on the BMD transcripts but those do not show middle names.

One more question, I didn't find a Annie Maria for 1885 when I searched the BMD, but I did find a Amy b 1884, who also appears on the 1891 census as daughter of William and Annie, could you see if she appears on the baptism records.

and also confirm DOB for Margaret and William Robert (entered above as 5 Aug 1888 and 8 Aug 1888)
