Came across two entries in the census which made me laugh, one a 23 yr old lady who noted her occupation as "A Society Entertainer" ?????
another man who stated he was "A Trickster" ??? hope he meant a magican.

remember seeing one lady , a spinster, who put "never married thank god " on her 1911 form

Janet Report 2 Feb 2012 15:40

Think the reason is likely to be because the form was filled out wrongly. The entry should have been 'daughter', and the word child was written mistakenly. It was then altered to My Child to clarify- I'm sure he would be proud of them though- jl

I was tickled when I came across this entry on the 1911 census.

Name: Gladys Roda Page
Age in 1911: 2
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1909
Relation to Head: My Child
Gender: Female
Birth Place: Rotherhithe
Civil parish: Bermondsey
County/Island: London
Country: England
Street Address: 56 Clarence St, Rotherhithe
Registration district: St Olave (Bermondsey)

He must have been quite a proud or possessive Dad as all four of his daughters are listed in the relationship column as "my child"
