Thanks for all the advice.

KenSE - signing out then in again didn;t work. My laptop's 6 years old so running Windows XP and can't use IE9.

RomanyStar - Yes, I'll go back to the old tree until GR get things sorted.

It's an old trick but might just work. Sign out of GR and then sign back in and try again.

I had the situation yesterday where I needed to sign in again and since then the search has worked. Of course I don't know whether it was the signing in again that fixed it.

Rambling Rose told me how to switch to the old tree, it works for me. Click on family tree and you see the option of choosing the old tree. Good luck.

I was having that problem last week but it is working perfectly now. I suggest you update to IE9.

Use the old layout..................you get the option of it when you click on family tree

Is it just me or is anyone else having problems?
I type in the name of a person in my tree in the search box.
A list comes up of people with that name
I click a name and a new window opens - but not with the person I chose, just the tree with the "base" person.
Am I doing something wrong?
I am using Internet Exploer 8.
