It was just the principle I was checking. I know who should have signed it from the surrounding entries.

As you're transcribing, it would probably best to add in the note field that the register was not signed by the priest.

Have you looked for the entry on freebmd?

I wonder if he signed the other copies and just forgot the the register? Could you contact the Register Office that holds the record and get them to check?

Odd! It would be worth finding the entry in the original church register. If its been signed on that, the marriage would be legal.

If it's the Brides original copy, or obtained from GRO, the transcribed signature may have been missed off at some point in its journey to the central registrary.

In 1895 a marriage certificate has not been signed by the Officiating Minister. It has been signed by Bride & Groom together with 2 Witnesses.
Anyone know what it's status is?
