HI All,
I have details from 1881 Scotland kindly sent by Cathrine as follows.
George Henderson (head) 28yrs DB c1853
Ann Henderson (spouse)
Ann Moodie (mother). < would this be mother to the head and if so would this be her maiden name or is there something else going on ?

Also where can I find and purchase a marriage cert for George and Wife Ann.
Regards James.

Astra

Astra Report 12 Feb 2012 14:20

It is more likely that his mother was widowed and re-married to someone called Moodie. Unless, of course it should read mother in law and it is Ann's mother.
You need the Scotland's People site to find the marriages for them both. It is pay per view.

James, which birth cert have you ordered? The James b1880 England? If so, which one? There loads of possibles.

You would do better to look for the birth of Matilda b1878 on scotlandspeople, where you can download the cert for a lot less than buying an. There are only two births of a Matilda Henderson for t years 1877/78.

Also bear in mind that on Scottish census a female quite often was listed with her maiden name even after marriage.

Hi James,
Have sent a PM regarding Image.

James

James Report 13 Feb 2012 22:50

Got it Foggy, thank you for that,
When my wife saw the name Cockrane she remembered that her father told her a story of when a relative visited from Scotland on a motor bike and her father went back up with him as passenger, the persons name was Cockrane, This was in the 1940s !!
So it is all in there.
He did say he would never go on a motor bike again, must have been some journey in them days.
Thank you again and thank's to Glitterbaby / Potty / Astra for your input.
Regards James.
PS I may be back !!!!!!!!
