birth before 1837

Hi, how would I find the birth certificate for a person born before 1837 please.

Ann.............there are no certs before then..........what you need is a baptism record.

Some counties have OPC's (Online Parish Clerks)

To find out which, go to the UKBMD website, and click on OPC in the menu to the left of the home page

Most early parish records are held in the appropriate County Records Office.

Or you could google to see if that particular area has a Family History Society with a website.
For example, in my area of interest, Cambridgeshire, the Cambridgeshire Family History Society has a very good website on which can be found various parish records, all of which were transcribed by volunteers.
