WARNING ............. MY WATCHED THREADS

Sue

It has just started happening ......... on the 15-16th February!

It was not happening when I posted this thread on the 13th

But it said it did at the heading of Watched threads ...... and I and one or two others thought that reading that, led people not to return to threads to see if there were postings.

However, like Joy ............... I have a couple of threads in My Watched threads that were NOT put there by me!

The only 3 threads I have marked as Watch involve ones that I really do want to keep a check on ...... and no-one has posted on those in 4 years :-D. They do however contain some information that I think I might want to re-check at some point.

I saw someone posting yesterday that they had had 5 emails ........... about the same new posting :-D

Sylvia,

IT DOES HAPPEN WHEN A REPLY IS PUT ON A WATCHED THREAD.

when a watched thread has another reply on it,then the person who is watching it gets an email to let them know..
I have had 9 emails today telling me about the replies to the thread..

I have just looked at my watched threads and there are several that had ticks; I had not put the ticks there :-0 :-S
I have removed the ticks.

"I have just received a Watched Thread email from Genes!"

I received that, too, even though it concerned threads that I had not "watched" :-S

One feature on this tool does NOT work.

The heading to My Watched Threads states:-

"This is where you can keep a copy of your watched threads. At the top of each thread you’ll see the option to watch them. You can watch your own threads or any others that are of interest to you. TICK THE 'WATCH' COLUMN TO RECEIVE AN EMAIL LETTING YOU KNOW THAT THERE ARE REPLIES ON YOUR WATCHED THREADS. If want to watch a thread, but you don't want to know about any new posts on it then just untick the 'watch' box."

-----------------

However, there were problems with the email reporting on My Watched Threads, and GR have disabled it until the problem can be sorted.

Many new posters on these boards expect to receive an email notifying of new postings on threads in which they are interested.

This does NOT happen. You HAVE to return to the thread on your own accord ..... use My Threads to do that.
