I am searching without luck for an ancestor and have even posted on the find ancestors .At moment I am trying a different track and am looking at a Ben Cention aged 1 who in 1841 is living with James Jones and family in Gloucestershire,However I can find no trace of this child anywhere else either in further census' or birth records so was wondering if name could have been misheard by enumerator any ideas gratefully received :-)

I am not sure if it IS Ben Cention. The B is nothing like the B of Bellamy on the opposite page and cention does not begin with a capital letter, as do all the other surnames. Also, the age is in the female column.

Having said that, I can't make it out to be anything else!

Have you found the Jones family in 1851 to see if there is a possible child on that?

Strange she doesn't show again after the 1851,

Think her dad may have died and elder bros married as find some of them on the 1861. not seeing her again , she must have been known as a different name

Henry Jones b1837 (General)

by awoodman, Wednesday, May 28, 2008, 22:30 (1360 days ago)

I am struggling to find out more about Henry's family and I was wondering if anybody might be able to help me. According to my research he married a Amelia Blanch at Parkend in 1860 and on the marriage certificate it states the Groom's father as a James. I then found a baptism certificate listing the parents of Henry as a James and a Mary (30/12/1837). However, I cannot find any more and I cannot find the family on a census. I have found a Henry with parents William and Mary and a sister Hannah but I can't find any more than this. If anyone can give me any help I would be really grateful.

Thankyou all very much for your replies. It was my daughter who had posted on the forest website as we have both been doing the family tree. I had come to the conclusion that Ben Cention was indeed Vencension or however her name was spelt but have then lost trace of her. Very difficult to trace this side of my family. Jones was the grandmother on my father's side but thankyou all for your help
