there should still be a death index for a cert but it would depend when it was if it has been transcribed and put on there yet. Find my past may have more years covered

Margaret ,

It would still be indexed in GRO if he died in England/Wales, after 1837 regardless of place of death.

Prisons would hold a record that Prisioner 12345/ Jones---- had died,,,,,,but it would still have gone to the normal registration process.also the place of death isnt recorded in the GRO indexes just the area,,,,ie Manchester/Liverpool,,,,,,even a slim chance the certificate may not say, HM Prison,,, but the address of the prison.

Hello all, I am trying to find info on a relation who I know died in prison.
I do not know which prison or an actual date.
Any ideas on where I may start to look?
Thanks Margaret
