Hi,

I was wondering if somebody could help with reading an occupation on the 1851 and 1861 census.
The deatails for the person are: David Downing born.1789 in Wales. On both the 1851 and 1861 census he is living in the Isle of man with wife mary.
1851 - with wife Mary and children susuaan, frederick and David.
1861 - just with wife mary.

in 1851 it looks like it says commisioned coach guard, the something beginning with the letter S then in '61 is says 'in the' then something begining with S, then, i think...boat man of the ?

Hope someone can help read it !

Thanks,
Alison.
