Hi. I'm researching the Colston family for a friend. I know Frank Colston b 1911 in Pontypridd (married Ethel Cooper in Exeter) and Frank's father Charles George Co(u)lston who was also born in Pontypridd in 1875 (married Bertha Anne Henley in 1900 in Pontypridd).

Is anyone else looking up this family? I am unable to find a birth as yet for Charles George Colston but can find one for Charles George Coulston. however, it's a Charles George Coulston that marries Bertha.

Is this just a spelling mistake? Am i to go back further looking at Coulston or Colston? The Coulston's dates seem to match as i go back further (Henry John Coulston; John Coulston. But I know that Frank and his daughter are Colston's.

Sound confusing? Sorr. But just wondered if anyone out there is searching this name also so they might be able to help.

Thank you. Julia

Have you tried Search Trees on this site?

If you find a possible match you can contact the tree owner to see if you have a connection.

I did do that, and it turned up a Charles Colston from Australia, so I turned to the Board. Now you've said that, I've suddenly realised that I didn't try the Charles Coulston ... I have done that and the name does appear .. in cardiff too.

How silly do i feel now. I think i need to take a break!!

Thanks for that. :-S

You know there are Colstons in Bristol.

Many folk went back and forth from Bristol to Wales in the past following the work in the mines etc.

Have none in my family but found Colstons whilst researching my Brains and had to take some time to work out whether or not there was a connection.

And there was/is a Colston school in Bristol.
