What did a hooper do please?

Found an ancestor who was a hooper. I'm sure we had a thread of occupations somewhere, but can't find it. Google's no help either.

One of my ancestors was a cooper (who made the barrels) however, they were probably used for fish more than alcohol. It can depend on the area where they were making barrels.

I do have a cooper as well, from a different town/brewery!
