His parents wouldnt have to be witnesses but he would have needed his fathers consent as he was under 21 maybe the first marriage was annulled.

The certificate may give a clue ie annotated if it was later found to be illegal

Frank Wiggins was 18 yrs old when he married at ST. Saviours church in Oxton, Birkenhead. I was informed that his parents would have to be witnesses, as he was a minor. I believe his spouse re-married I don't know when this occurred, and put that she was a widow.

When you say he was a minor, was he old enough to be married with parental consent?

As long as he was old enough to marry I think his first marriage would still be valid - even though he didn't have parental consent.

Lied about his age on marriage cert. Did a booze run in Canada in a prohibited area, do n't know whether he had a custodial sentence. Re-married in 1934. My question is was his first marriage valid as he was a minor his witness were not his parents, did he serve a sentence in Canada, and was there a divorce?
