Thanks to everyone for the dates.

There are some census records for the US on the new familysearch site. I have loads of rellies to went to the US; so this helps when children's ages are recorded in months.

I feel sorry for the poor soul who had to wander around Alaska from October to April Brrrrrrrrrrr :-(

USA census dates

Census data can be very useful for the family historian. If you are aware of the date that the census was conducted, it can help in determining the correct date of birth. Below is listed the official dates that the U.S. Federal Census was taken "as of". However, be aware that the actual date does not always correspond to the official date.
US Census

1790 - 2 August
1800 - 4 August
1810 - 6 August
1820 - 7 August
1830 - 1 June
1840 - 1 June
1850 - 1 June
1860 - 1 June
1870 - 1 June
1880 - 1 June
1890 - 1 June
1900 - 1 June
1910 - 15 April
1920 - 1 January
1930 - 2 April 2 (in Alaska it began on 1 October 1929)

I hope this helps you.

Its always worth looking at the top of the image. That will give the date they are actually taken. For instance, in rural areas, it might have taken the enumerator several weeks to cover the whole area.

For instance, the one with my branch which was supposed to have been taken
1 Jun 1850 was taken on 25 Jun
1 Jun 1880 .. 8 Jun
1 Jun 1900 .. 16 Jun
