Thank you Jonesey, Ann & Jan for your helpful advice - some info I already had but now following up on that which you have suggested and I didn't have - especially about the possible son of Isobel.

I think there is a chance Isobel is on 192.com - there is an Isobel I Johansen on ER up till 2012, definitely worth a look.

If you meant the Isobel Johansen arriving in 1960 that was a 72 year old lady arriving from Barbados I'm afraid.

There is an incoming passenger list for an Isobel Johansen (slightly different sp) on Ancestry, maybe someone with higher membership can check it out? Just in case it is her and there are other Johansen's on the trip, you never know!
Have you tried checking out that address on Friends Reunited? There might be someone there who was a neighbour.

Isobel appears to have been an only child and as her mother predeceased her father it is probable that if her father left a will she would be an executrix and a beneficiary.

It might be worth checking to see if he did leave a will to see if any details such as her address, spouse and possible offspring are mentioned. Copies of wills made/proved are held at the Court of Probate and copies of the calendars (Registers) can be viewed free in London. A copy of the will itself can be obtained by post for just £6.00.

While I have made slow but positive progress researching my father's English family with whom he lost contact in about 1952 I have come to a 'brick wall' in my research on a cousin. I have a copy of her Birth Cert. & a copy of her father's Death Cert. stating her as the Informant with her married name. I have checked (& rechecked) the Marriage & Death Registers - found no-one who could be my cousin BUT on the Passenger List Records, name & DOB match for 1956 Departure Southhampton, Destination Quebec, Canada. I presume now, that she married while in Canada but can't find any match in Quebec Marriage Records, but then she gave a Middlesex address for her father's Death Cert. in 1981.

I wrote briefly, 12 mths ago, to that address hoping Isobel or someone who knew her may still live there (current age would be about 76). I have had no reply.

Can anyone tell me how I go about finding her marriage and/or death records or her where-abouts.
