To clarify.....are you saying that on the 1911 census, your grandmother indicated that one or more children born during her marriage had died?

Have you traced her on all censuses before 1911, and after she married?

Are you looking to buy birth certs? Or death certs?

"So are you saying write to local office where the birth occurred -- with a cheque ... now 10 pounds ..........ask for copy providing it has XXXXXXXX and YYYYYYYYY parents"

Yes :)

Pity about the OPC - one site seemed to say the post was vacant for Dorchester, but in this one http://www.opcdorset.org/ there seems to be an OPC; you could try once more?

ues it was along those line .......but it was not that actual thread .........well perhaps it was ....as I see it was used recently

I am trying to get the certs for my Grannies babies she say died on 1911

had 3 certs back not ours ...............so thought I would try a different approach

So are you saying write to local office where the birth occurred -- with a cheque ... now 10 pounds ..........ask for copy providing it has XXXXXXXX and YYYYYYYYY parents

It is annoying really coz one could be looked quickly at be opcdorset Dorchester 1897 -but it is impossible to contact volunteer for Dorchester email bounce back --- asked earlier last year ( emails bouncing back then too) and sent a general request to an organiser was told I was in a queue -------heard nothing more

Thanks to all

The GRO dont do check points now but believe if you don't put the GRO ref on the order but put a year ,and area of course, then you can specify the parent/s names as a check point .

Certs though cost you £3 extra ie £3 for the search on top of the £9.25 ,

The GRO site should give you some guidance on it.
