Just a note; CQMS is not a rank in the British army,

It is his job title

To be a CQMS you would need to have the rank of staff sergeant or it's equvalant Colour Sergeant

Also The difference is in the part of the army that they serve. A Colour Sergeant is a rank in the infantry, so named as they would accompany the bearer of the Regimental Colours or standard
Staff Sergeants are the same rank in all other branches of the army
He is referring to the Company Quartermaster Sergeant (or CQMS), who will have the rank of C/Sgt and holds the CQMS position. The CQMS is responsible for all supply related issues. In a non-infantry unit the same position is called Squadron Quartermaster Sergeant(SQMS).
