Have you done google searches to see for yourself what is available?
e.g.:
http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/news/618.htm

If your grandfather and grandmother were married, his father should show on the marriage certificate.
Do you need help in looking those records up?

there are some records available on line, do you have his DOB etc.

Don't know about that Sean, but did he marry your grandmother? If you can get their marriage cert it will have his father's name on it, assuming he knew it, which would be a start.

hello can anyone give me advice please

all i now is the name of my grand father that he came from ireland and joined the merchant navy when he was about 15 would the merchant navy in liverpool hold the names of his next of kin
