Although I may be wrong, I think that the Pilot site is now the default one ie the one you automatically get directed to.

https://www.familysearch.org/

The link to the previous site is

http://www.familysearch.org/eng/

Note that there is '/eng' on the end of the original address.

The pilot site is long gone - pity, really, as it was far better than its replacement

Can't agree with Reggie. They've recently fixed the worst problem with the new site (namely cut and pastes of hits introducng scads of blank lines).

Anyway, here's the link to the old IGI
http://www.familysearch.org/eng/search/frameset_search.asp?PAGE=igi/search_IGI.asp&clear_form=true
It's handy if you need to find records contributed by other folks, although most (all?) of the extracted records are on the new site.

My preference is to look in specific collections at:
https://www.familysearch.org/search/collection/list#page=1®ion=BRITISH_ISLES
Some collections have images - not all these are fully indexed - some have partial indexes, and some are unindexed.
It would be nice to know what %-age were indexed but they don't say (except for the US 1940 census which many yanks are gung-ho about).

Ha ha ha!

When I tried the first link all I got was a page with the headers "Home, Search Records, Index Records etc." and the rest of the page is an absolute blank. I am getting fed up with FamilySearchOrg too.

I must be in a massive minority.... I find the new site much easier to use and to browse through.
More reliable than the old site too, since the entries are extracted and not submitted.

The new site also has submissions. I found some yesterday.
