Just thought I would add this for my helpers tomorrow.
I found out a bit more this afternoon about Thomas.
In November 1841 after receiving his freedom Cert,he re offended,at first I thought that he only got a few months at Darlinghurst,however just found another doc from the Goal that gives his sentence as 15 years and he is transferred to Cockatoo Island Dec 19th 1841. I must admit to being confused as I also found a newspaper article listing convicts for whom certificates of freedom were being prepared and that was dated 18th January 1842.
So I don't know if he served out his long sentence,was given his freedom or died in Gaol!

I've just read the biography down to the bit where it mentions" Woodlands"

I do hope my ancestor didn't steal from this chap!

It's really interesting,fancy being disposed of to Eyre! it's a shame Thomas couldn't have made good,instead of being sent to Darlinghurst Gaol when it first opened in 1841,I believe the prisoners called it Starvinghurst because of the lack of food.

I have all of the previous docs I think and it does seem that he carried on after being transported as he was sentenced to Gaol in Nov 1841 having been issued his cert of freedom in the June.Another cert was prepared for him in Jan 1842.

It's the image of where he was sent on arrival 1n 1834 that I can't read

I found out the other week that he originally stole "Pork" of all things!

I've just downloaded a document I found this morning on Ancestry.co.uk regarding my 4xgreat uncle who was transported to New South Wales.

I think the last column says "how disposed of" then there is a signature and possibly a place name?

Would some one be kind enough to have a look please.Would I need to e-mail it to someone or could I attach it to a pm?

His name is Thomas Emmerson Chandler on every doc,but this one seems to point to him using his middle name as an alias.
