Post a few details of what you know, especially any which are shown in documents.

About what dates and where do you think they were perhaps born ?

What state was he born in?

hello all

Had to start backwards on this one as family have limited information on what would have been my great grandad, Linked him on a passenger list as the address he stayed he was visiting was the address of his sister, got him travelling from new york to liverpool and then back 3 months later. Then a merchant navy record stating he was born in seattle. I know he died in new jersey and had a son called raymond and i think i have found an army record from 1942 stating his son as his contact person. I can only see him on one US census living alone in 1940. I assume he spent more time in the uk as he had a daughter (my nan) in 1925 , but other than that i m stuck any help would be great

thanks

hello

the birth record from 1925 does not name father , i believe he was born in seattle in 1890 from the military record.

thanks

cant help with USA records sorry . but wondered if he was born in the UK because of that birth and he had a sister here.

If he was born in 1890 he would be about 52 in 1942 . isnt that a bit old to be in the service then in WW2 ??

From Ancestry:
The Fourth Registration, often referred to as the "old man's registration", was conducted on 27 April 1942 and registered men who born on or between 28 April 1877 and 16 February 1897 - men who were between 45 and 64 years old - and who were not already in the military.

I guess you're reluctant to give his name??

Have you tried getting his Social Security application to see if it turns up anything?

Kind of expensive,though!
