Hi does anyone know what the letters beside the names mean

ie:- Rw
Dw
Ow
O

The area was Southall in Middlesex

R. = Residence Qualification
B.P. = Business premises qualification
O. = Occupation Qualification
H.O. = Qualification through husband's occupation
N.M. = Naval or Military Voter
D. = Qualification through wife's occupation
Women
Rw = Residence qualification
Bw = Business premises qualification
Ow = Occupation Qualification
Dw = Qualification through husband's occupation

I couldn't find any reference at all even when I googled !!

The amazing co-incidence is this is for a friend she asked me to help, she had already found the page, but her husbands family from Germany originally, have turned up in my birth town and in streets I knew ......

If you look at the first images of the set fot that year and district it should list the abbreviations used I think it is usually on image 3.

That will give the abbreviations valid for that district and year.
