Hi, I have a photo of my gt grandfather standing in front of a butcher`s shop called H Catto where he worked. Has anyone any idea where it was, it may have been in Ipswich. I can`t find him (William Charles Garrard born Ipswich 1877) in the 1911 census. He isn`t the one at Tendring. |

Hi Jonesy, thanks for your reply. I know where he was living in 1901, but don`t know where he worked. He left his family sometime after 1905 and died at Croydon in 1947,don`t know where he was in between. The photo isn`t dated. |

I cannot spot William Charles or his wife Florence Agneta in 1911. His brother Alfred Ambrose is still living in Ipswich but is not now living with them. |

There is a Henry Caton, Butcher, at 2, Upper Orwell Street, Ipswich in Kelly's 1900 Directory. |

Apologies, yes, the name is Caton, obviously a senior episode. This must be the shop. Apparently it went bankrupt and my ancestor had to leave home to find work in Croydon. Thanks. |

Terry, who was the informant on William Charles' death certificate? Might yield some clues as to his circumstances. |

Hi,I haven`t got his death certificate. He was either a boarder or living with another woman while still married to Gt Grandmother living in Ipswich. |
