Well, they can call themselves what they like - my grandfather for example dropped his first name entirely! But he did use his middle name.
Maybe you could give us some details, you never know, we might come up with something.

I assume you mean 2 certs cost £18 - is this England/Wales? £9.25 each.

It could well be that one or other was mis heard and in particular marriage certificates are often made out by a clerk prior to the ceremony and most often would not be checked by the couple.

The actual certificate may have an ammendment, but if everything else matches, they could refer to the same person's birth and marriage.

So you are really looking for the birth of the Kathleen who married Ernest Tynan?
Is there any reason to suppose she came from Liverpool?

Where have you got her age from?

We are sure the marriage details are correct and reports from a family member that she was about 7 years older than him gave approx year of birth but we cannot find her under Kathleen at that time. She definitely was born in Liverpool that we are 100% sure of that information
Thank you for your help

You really do need the marriage cert. There is at least one other possible birth, for example:

Births Sep 1923 (>99%)
Farrell Kathleen Larkin W.Derby 8b 607

I would only send for something you know to be correct, or are able to confirm/reject when you see it. How would you have any idea if a birth cert was the right one? If you are sure of the marriage, get that.
