Hi Jackie, if you can't find a matching marriage record on FreeBMD then the best way is to order a copy of that birth certificate from GRO. http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/

From http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl

Births Dec 1930
Hill Albert G Morgan Amersham 3a 1485

The thing to bear in mind is that the mother may have been married before. Her maiden name would be used on the birth registration but the marriage would be in her previously married name.

Hi, Thanks for letting me know, I have tried this. I really didn't expect this would every be this hard to find someone (I am hoping and this is a very long shot someone will know this family)

They lived at 36 High Street, Langley Marish (1946/47) even the search for this and occupants full names is hard to find unless you really know what you are doing, like everything it's easy if you know how (well they make it look easy on long lost family!!!!!)

Thanks again for your reply and help :-)

Hi Jackie when you say you've tried this, do you mean you did buy his birth certificate?

If not, then you really need to as it's the only way you'll get any further I'm afraid.

Contact Langley Marish library for old electoral rolls. This will give you the names at that address.

Will such common surnames as Hill and Marsh there will be lots of potential marriages. The birth cert is the way to go.

Langley Marish is comes under Eton district. How do you know the Amersham birth is the correct one?

Did this Albert Marry? In which case his marriage cert is the way to go. It will name his father ( if indeed he knew his fathers name)

If Albert is a direct relation, it is advisable to purchase the relevant B/M/D's.

If you don't 'know' him personally, don't forget he could be still be alive. After all, he would be in his early 80's, so it is possible!!!

The Electoral Rolls in many areas only list Surnames & Initials.
