Put it down to the fact it is time for sleep

Ann
I think that's probably what was happening in this family.

Thank you for the very full records.... Not much gap between wives....barely 6 months.

Gwyn, your OP shows the address as 106 Warrington Rd Lower Ince,

I no this area and i can say that their is still and was in 1911 plenty of open spaces where he could have grown veg

I would not class it as a town in the context of being densely populated

look it up on google map, then go to street view

Daniel lived in a town , so not much room for growing veg.and has previously been seen as a blacksmith and today I have found him in parish registers online, still a blacksmith after the census.
Perhaps his childless wife ran the greengrocers ?

My great grandad was a Miner and greengrocer he worked down the pit and also had his own small holding where he grew veg and then sold the veg from the house

Hi Gwyn, I think it's quite feasible that he was a "blacksmith and greengrocer" as the original image says. He worked from home so may well have sold fruit and veg to supplement income, especially if he grew it himself.

I have just been looking for an extended family member in 1911 and found that he is a blacksmith, connected to a greengrocer.
I can't understand that combination.
Any thoughts anyone?
