Ancestry have announced that they have now completed the transcribing of the 1911 UK census (England and Wales) and that it is fully searchable.

Its just worth mentioning that Typical of most jobs done in a hurry there appear to be quite a few errors.

These relate mainly to transcription mistakes but I have come across a couple where it appears that whoever did that particular transcription either wasn't paying attention or made a deliberate mistake. Examples being where step children who were recorded with their correct birth surname on the form have been transcribed with the surname of their step father on the transcribed version. I have also found some where although the individual was obviously male by their name and their age was recorded correctly in the "Male" column on the form they have been transcribed as "Gender: Female"

I have reported to Ancestry all the mistakes that I have found and I would ask others to do likewise so that the alternative can be added to the transcription for the benefit of others who are searching for their ancestors.

Usually report any transcription errors.

Just found a good one on FMP

18 year old son to a man age 28 and a woman age 27 - image said the son was 18 hours old and was quite clear on image

So both sites are not good at transcriptions
