If it is of any help Pam the next time I am over in Cheadle village I can call into the local library and see if they have any old maps available.

In the meantime...Cheadle and Gatley as Jax intimated come under the Borough of Stockport and there is the Stockport Heritage Library which may be able to help. The email address is..

The people living next door

the house hold before Charles Morris,

Their address is Springfield Road, Gatley the neighbor on the other side is down as Ivy Cottage Hospital Lane,

Springfield Road, Gatley is still their on modern maps although the houses look like they were rebuilt in the 1930? so i would suggest that Hospital Lane begins at the end of Springfield Road to the north where Gatley Road the A560 crosses

Back in 1911 the Barns Hospital was named the Barns convalescing hospital according to old maps but sadly the map i looked at did not name that road from Gatley to the Hospital,

The only Hospital lane in that sort of area coming up in 1911 was this one

Stockport Etchells Stockport Cheshire

There were only 3 properties in that road at that time but either side were Springfield road and Old Hall Road...whether they were nearby ??
